St. Mary of the Assumption

Parish Mission Statement

We the people of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Phoenixville, recognize our call to serve God and grow as a parish community:

1) To build a community that worships God by active participation in liturgical life through a coordinated liturgy program that endeavors to meet the worship needs of each parishioner. Our prayer and worship call us to both hear the Word of God, and to love God’s Word in our daily actions and relationships.

2) To help create and nourish our Christian community by accepting the diversity of our people, recognizing the gifts and talents of our parish members, by welcoming newcomers, praying together, listening and responding to the needs and the hurts of the community, by caring for the parish facilities, ministries, parishioners, and by creating a spirit of Stewardship to meet our parish goals.

3) To proclaim the good news by Evangelizing all, through a warm and welcoming spirit of hospitality towards present, new, inactive, or alienated parishioners as well as the un-churched. We resolve to do this through a coordinated effort of Pastoral Council members, pastoral staff, and parish volunteers.

4) To teach the message of Christ by overseeing and developing a total parish process of education that includes both adult and youth centered programs to meet the diverse needs of our parishioners.

5) To be responsive to those in need by listening and better understanding the most pressing spiritual and material needs of our community by envisioning solutions, programs, etc. to meet those needs. To utilize the best human and financial resources to put those programs into action.

6) To continually strengthen the liturgical experience through expanding music, special events, etc. and increase attendance and participation in liturgy and associated ministries of the parish.

My Spirit rejoices in God my savior.
